Ask five friends and colleagues that you trust to tell you what they most admire about you and what they consider to be your greatest strengths, you may be surprised by the answers and it will give you an insight into how other perceive you.
Dedicate time to job hunting and preparing for interviews. You are looking for an exciting new opportunity, if you don’t spend time preparing yourself there are those who will – and they will get it first. Ensure that you are fully prepared.
Enthusiasm is key to securing any job, remember it’s relatively easy for a company to fill any skills gaps with a training course, but you can’t train someone to be enthusiastic. If you don’t feel truly enthusiastic about a role, think twice about applying. If you do, show it – it will be one your key selling points during the selection and interview process.
Changing jobs can be stressful, so ensure that you are in the best possible condition to meet the challenges you will face. Get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water, cut back on alcohol, take more exercise and try to eat healthily – you should see your energy levels increase drastically!
Surround yourself with positive people, ideally those who have been in a similar position to you and know what you are going through.
Do something towards your new career every day, even if it’s something small, like a phone call, completing a task every day will maintain momentum and will ensure that you are one step closer to success.
