Bolton Lads & Girls Club
National Citizen Service: SUMMER 2016

Bolton Lads & Girls Club is one of the largest youth centres in the country. Their mission is to enable young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to reach their full potential. They deliver a range of universal and targeted programmes in order to achieve this and have a membership of over 7000 children and young people.

NCS is a youth development and community action programme that brings together 15-17 year olds from different backgrounds, challenges them physically and emotionally, develops skills and builds their sense of responsibility resulting in them choosing to make a difference in a local community. The programme is growing rapidly across the country and is part of the Governments Big Society agenda. BLGC are tasked with delivering NCS programmes throughout 2016, working with hundreds of young people from diverse communities to contribute towards a more cohesive society.

The NCS programme includes:

  • Outdoor Challenge: 5 days, Monday to Friday.
  • Community Challenge: A residential over 5 days, Monday to Friday.
  • Social Action Planning: A non-residential of 30 hours, usually Monday to Friday based in Bolton.
  • Social Action Delivery: 30 hours based in Bolton, flexible but usually Monday to Friday.
  • Graduation Celebration Event: An evening graduation event to celebrate the participant’s achievements.

BLGC have a number of exciting Summer Job opportunities to help deliver NCS

They are looking for highly motivated individuals that are passionate about working with young people and have the ability to inspire and motivate young people to achieve.

Applicants must be available during the summer holidays 2016.

Team Leader – To work the full programme delivery, this is 20 days per Wave. In addition, the Team Leader is to attend 2 days of compulsory preparation training. Salary per complete wave £1430.00.

Assistant Team Leader – To work the full programme delivery, this is 20 days per Wave in a support role assisting the Team Leader. In addition, the Assistant Team Leader is to attend 2 days of compulsory preparation training. Salary per complete wave £1215.50.
