New Year, Same You? (Acceptance) – By Lee Farghaly

How’s 2019 treating you? I have a theory that the festive and New Year periods destroy you in some ways, and that January is when you piece yourself back together, bit by bit, but as a I mentioned in my previous blog it’s a difficult process, but stick with it. You should be noticing the lighter days more now.

Did you manage to return any unwanted gifts you received over Christmas? I read somewhere that £19 billion was spent on Christmas presents online in 2018, and that in January £4.8 billion of it was going to be items that got returned. Amazon couriers must really be getting the overtime in this month!

Half way through January is around the time that New Years resolutions start to waiver

Half way through January is around the time that New Years resolutions start to waiver, and people start to read the small print in the gym terms and conditions, trying to figure out how they can get out of a twelve month gym contract. You don’t need to commit to five days a week, if you can manage one day a week consistently; you are doing brilliantly and really deserve a pat on the back for implementing that routine into your life.

At work, have you slipped back into the groove, and now the weeks are all starting to seem the same? The weeks aren’t the same though; it’s still very much the beginning of the year! The possibilities are endless.

Knowing your worth is extremely important in the world of work

A lot of people act like the New Year starts in February, and January is just something you have to get through. Don’t be one of those people. If that’s the case you could get the head start on the rest of the competition with your goals. Don’t put off that job search. Go for it now.

Knowing your worth is extremely important in the world of work. Do your research, and if you feel you’re better than that they say so, but make sure you have some good evidence of your own great work to back up the argument.
