About the role:

Working as part of a small purchasing team you will be working with existing and sourcing new suppliers to meet company requirements. Duties will include:

Developing and maintaining relationships with existing and new suppliers to ensure competitive prices are obtained

Identifying procurement needs and developing targets and strategy for ongoing cost improvements and efficiencies without sacrificing quality

Holding supplier performance/compliance reviews and ensuring that supplier KPI’s are measured and achieved

Visiting suppliers to carry out suitability appraisals and reviews

Maintaining procurement best practice techniques on contract tendering (including RFI, RFQ, RFP)

Negotiating retrospective discounts from all suppliers and monitoring target achievement progress when appropriate

Ensuring price increases and product changes only occur in line with company policy Ensuring timely receipt and analysis of supplier sales and product volumes to monitor trends and take appropriate action

Sourcing new products and suppliers from both inside and outside the UK

Maintaining and monitoring samples of branded products to ensure continuity of production and consistent supply

Preparing and presenting procurement updates at General Meetings

Logging and monitoring commodity indices on a weekly basis

Updating and maintaining supplier records and diaries.

Gathering feedback from customers which relates to procurement activity with approved and non-approved suppliers, to improve understanding of spend and improve negotiating position

Completing weekly activity reports for the Procurement Manager

Contributing to a monthly team board report for the CEO.

Communicating with the Board, membership and Head Office team to develop and enhance Team approach methods


Skills and Experience required:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar Buying or Purchasing role which includes sourcing and negotiating with new suppliers.  You will be comfortable using Word and have excellent Excel skills. You will be studying towards or be qualified CIPS. A flexible approach to working hours and occasional overnight stays where required due to the occasional need to visit suppliers.


The benefits:

A salary of £25,000 to £28,000 depending on experience
